V rámci predmetu sa študent sa oboznámi so základnými aspektmi písomného prejavu, štruktúrou odseku ako základného prvku textu, jednotlivými typmi esejí a osvojí si základy procesu písania – interpunkcia,  tvorba osnovy, koncept a výstavba textu.

Predmet sa zameriava na historický prehľad o vývine britskej koloniálnej politiky, problematike britského impéria v jeho počiatkoch, na vrchole a i na ústupe.

The course focuses on the analysis of post-colonial British minority writing and its comparison with colonial literature and modern minority writing.

The course provides students with comprehensive knowledge of postcolonial literature and its development throughout the 20th century. Being rooted in crucial theoretical essays and literary works, students become familiar with basic terminology of postcolonial literary studies that will be applied during interpretations of selected literary texts.

The course is based on the close-reading of the short stories of the 19th and 20th century Anglophone writers. It is designed to help students advance their presentation skills, interpretative skills and critical thinking in approaching literary texts. The texts will be examined through a thorough contextual (biographical, historical and cultural) analysis.

Semináre detailného čítania a analýzy poviedok anglických spisovateľov 20.storočia, so skúmaním texov prostredníctvom kontextovej analýzy a hľadaním vzťahov medzi textom a ostatnými aspektami (autor, história, kultúra). Cieľom je prehĺbenie interpretačných zručností a kritického myslenia študentov v prístupe k literárnemu textu.

We identify and analyze the interference of the mother tongue on English pronunciation, practice techniques for working with students' own pronunciation and use tools such as speech visualization software PRAAT and International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

This course introduces students to pragmatics, the study of how people make sense of each other linguistically. 

Basic pragmatic concepts, such as the cooperative and politeness principles, deixis, and speech acts, are to be discussed and illustrated. 

The primary aim of this course is for students to improve their oral presentation skills (fluency, posture, eye contact) and to be able to prepare a well-structured thesis defence. Students will also practice debate on various linguistic and literary topics.

The aim of this course is to improve students' abilities related to oration, with a primary focus on formal structure of speech and argumentation strategies.

Kurz poskytuje prehľad kľúčových diel americkej literatúry. Pozornosť venuje podrobnému čítaniu textov a zdôrazňuje znalosť historicko-spoločenského kontextu pri štúdiu literatúry.

Kurz poskytuje prehľad literárneho vývoja a produkcie v oblasti americkej literatúry v období od prvého osídľovania v 16. storočí do začiatku 20. storočia s ohľadom na historický kontext a umelecké smery a ich formy v literatúre ( transcendentalizmus, romantizmus ) Cieľom je rozšírenie vedomostí a kriticko- interpretačného myslenia študentov.

Kurz poskytuje prehľad literárneho vývoja a produkcie oblasti americkej literatúry 20. storočia s ohľadom na jednotlivé umelecké smery a ich formy v literatúre (realizmus, moderna, postmoderna, atď.)
